My name is Daniela DiStefano, and I’m a twenty-something freelance writer and journalist looking to make it big in the editorial world. I love to tell the stories of the people, places and things that intrigue me, and make me want to share my findings with others.
I recently graduated from The University of Western Ontario with my Master’s of Arts in Journalism. Now I’m hoping to pursue an exciting career where I can put my writing and editing skills to good use as part of an exciting editorial team.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a writer. When I was younger I loved writing creative stories for English class and excelled in public speaking contests. Once I was even featured in a poetry anthology for young writers, and one day I hope to write The Great Canadian Novel.
Being able to put my ideas or findings down on paper (or a web page) for others to read about has always excited me. I love the thrill of seeing my name in the byline, and knowing that what I wrote may influence someone to change their assumptions on an issue or motivate them to learn more about a new topic (or at least convince them to go out and buy those fabulous boots!).
Like a good chunk of my generation I am an excessive media junkie. Sometimes you can find me simultaneously reading a magazine, watching the news, Tweeting from my Blackberry and checking for the latest updates on my favorite blogs.
When I’m not busy bombarding my eyes and ears with the latest and greatest media musings I enjoy baking, tasting the flavors of the world, (Japanese, Thai, Mexican, Mediterranean, and of course the great American burger) Hot Yoga, dance parties, Pinot Grigio, and reading under the Florida sunshine.
