The White Ribbon Campaign: Working to end Violence Against Women

“I pledge never to commit, condone, or remain silent about violence against women.”

Every December the focus is brought to the global problem of violence against women and gender inequality. Around the world supports wear a white ribbon to educate themselves and their community to take a stand against violence.

December 6th marks Canada’s National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women. This year it also marked the 20th anniversary of the Montreal Massacre where 14 women were killed.  Students at the University of Western Ontario took part in events on campus all week presented by the UWO White Ribbon Campaign that reflected on the need to fight against gender violence. You can hear about the events and from the organizers on this week’s Western in Five Podcast.

You can subscribe to the weekly podcast on iTunes U for free.
